I'm really pleased with the hard work the students are putting into reading. They don't look to my face or lips for the answers anymore. They have worked hard to learn strategies to help work out sounds they're not sure of in the books they read. The video below shows the boys using their blends cards. The boys were reading level 5 and using the yellow alphabet cards to work out the initial letter sounds before the lockdown. The boys are now reading at level 7-8 and working on blends when they get to words with blends they are not sure of.
